The Bothy
Established in 1993 with support from Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) to offer basic accommodation for up to 12 individuals, at a very affordable price. Gaelic for simple cottage or refuge our "Bothy", a simply converted stone barn, continues the tradition of the marvellous free Highland Mountain Bothies Association and Shetland Bods but for a small charge which adds the luxury of hot water, 2 showers, male & female flush toilets, a multi-fuel stove, gas and electric lighting and a kitchen with fridge/freezer, work tops and sink.
It is well-maintained and welcoming, made with high quality natural materials. The bothy is a simple one-room affair, and there are no beds or bedding - you are to bring your own sleeping bags and mats, and there are floor spaces and a small mezzanine (top bunk!) which are used as sleeping areas. Consider this a large stone tent, with plenty of games, books, company, shelter and plenty of space to stretch out in!
