The Bothy at Badrallach, North West Scotland
Badrallach ...a tranquil place
The Bothy

Established in 1993 with substantial financial support from Scottish Natural Heritage (SNH) to offer basic accommodation for up to 12 individuals, for groups, families and all visitors at a price much below the now expensive established hostel networks. Gaelic for simple cottage or refuge our "Bothy", a simply converted stone barn, continues the tradition of the marvellous free Highland Mountain Bothies Association and Shetland Bods but for a small charge which adds the luxury of hot water, 2 showers, male & female flush toilets, a multi-fuel stove, gas and electric lighting and a kitchen with fridge/freezer, work tops and sink.

It is spotless, warm and welcoming and made with high quality natural materials but nothing else is provided - please note that this is inclusive of beds and bedding - you must bring your own sleeping bags/mats.

Guests need:
· torches
· sleeping mats and bags
· cooking stoves
· cooking and eating utensils
· food

We can provide a Cook Kit with all the fundamentals if you don't have any cooking equipment with you. We charge this at 5 per day. This includes gas, pots & pan, cutlery and plates. Nobody is turned away but do call before arrival especially at weekends in case we are full.

Guests are requested to leave all facilities as clean as they find them, cleaning materials can be found in the kitchen. Sole use (Private hire) is possible subject to payment of a premium. Wood is available for 5 per bag and please do bring your own kindling, matches and firelighters. Larger groups can be accommodated by using the camp site when the bothy can be used as a mess room, and for group leaders wanting more luxury the adjacent 4 bed cottage is available. Initially run with gas lights and natural light we now have some electricity - optional of course!

"A slice of heaven on earth.Tranquility, basic necessities& good friends. All the ingredients for the good life!.I would like to thank Mick and his family for providing this magnificent wee hideaway.I leave with some regret but with the profound sense that progress of humanity has not yet seeped into every crevis of our wonderful planet.Safe and happy travels my friends"
"Will come back to Badrallach because as everyone knows this is the best Bothy, probably the best Bothy in the world. We are off to Kuala Lumpur and Penang but part of us remains in this Bothy"
"I think you achieved something a bit special with the bothy and I enjoyed staying here"
